StockHaul — Privacy Policy
StockHaul is a GPS navigation app for commercial truck drivers. This policy also covers StockHaul Connect, the companion for family members and dispatchers who communicate with a driver over the CB Radio feature. This policy explains what information the apps handle and how. We designed StockHaul to collect as little as possible.
Information we handle
- Precise location. While you use the app, your device's location is used to show your position on the map, provide turn-by-turn navigation, calculate routes, and find nearby places. Location is processed in real time to deliver these features. During an active navigation trip on iOS, location continues updating while the app is in the background, solely so navigation and spoken directions can continue. We do not store your location history on our servers, and we never sell it.
- Search and route requests. When you search for a place or request directions, the search text and the relevant coordinates are sent to our processing providers (below) so we can return results and truck-legal routes. Voice guidance text may be sent to a text-to-speech provider to generate spoken directions.
- Voice input (microphone). When you use a push-to-talk voice feature — setting up a trip by voice or asking the AI copilot a question — your recorded audio and the relevant trip details are sent to OpenAI to understand your request and generate a spoken reply. The microphone records only while a voice session you started is active, and these assistant voice recordings are not stored on our servers. (CB Radio transmissions are different — see the next section.)
- Accounts are optional. StockHaul never requires you to create an account or sign in — every navigation feature works without one. If you choose to create an optional driver account (to back up and sync your saved places, loading points, fuel log, and truck settings across your devices), we collect your email address and an account identifier through our sign-in provider (Clerk). You can sign in with email/password or Sign in with Apple. Account data is used only to provide the backup/sync feature, is never sold or used for advertising, and you can permanently delete your account and its data in the app at any time (My Rig > Driver account > Delete account). The CB Radio feature uses a nickname ("handle") you choose yourself.
CB Radio and StockHaul Connect messages
The CB Radio feature is optional and off until you turn it on. When you send a transmission, it is delivered store-and-forward: your message is uploaded to our servers and held briefly so other members of your channel can pick it up.
- Voice transmissions are stored on our servers for about 5 minutes and then automatically deleted. Typed messages (sent from StockHaul Connect on team channels) are stored for up to 60 minutes and then automatically deleted.
- What other members see: your chosen handle, and — on the open channel only — your approximate distance and direction from the listener. Your exact location is never shown to other users. Team channels do not require or share location at all.
- Team channels are joined with a shareable code. Anyone who has the code can join the channel and hear its messages, so share codes only with people you trust. The channel owner can rotate the code at any time to remove old members.
- Blocking and reporting: you can block any sender locally and report a message. Reported messages are retained beyond the normal deletion window as evidence for review, and we may ban devices that violate the community rules.
- Notifications: if you enable new-message notifications in StockHaul Connect, a notification token for your device is stored with your channel membership so we can alert you when someone broadcasts. Tokens are removed when they stop working or when you turn notifications off.
Third-party service providers
To provide core features, limited request data is sent to the following providers, each under their own privacy terms:
- Google Places — place search and details (privacy policy).
- HERE Technologies — truck-legal routing and weather (privacy policy).
- OpenAI — natural voice guidance and push-to-talk voice features (speech processing) (privacy policy).
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not use your data for advertising, and the app contains no third-party ad tracking.
- We do not build a history of where you have been. Background location runs only during an active navigation trip you started, only to keep navigation working, and stops when the trip ends.
Data retention
Location, route, and voice requests are processed to serve your request and are not retained on our servers as a personal profile. CB Radio voice transmissions are deleted after about 5 minutes and typed messages after up to 60 minutes, except messages that were reported, which are retained for review. Saved places and app settings you create are stored only on your device.
Children
StockHaul is intended for professional drivers and a general audience. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
